Goa is drowning in garbage and Sernabatim Beach is no exception. Though litter bins have been placed at the entrance, no collection agency empties the receptacles when they are full. Moreover, insensitive tourists spread garbage all over the place adding to the stink and unhygienic conditions.
The village panchayat should take action against such waste management agencies (if appointed) and levy spot fines on beach goers if caught littering the place. Whatever happened to the much-vaunted Tourist Police? Let’s not make Goa (in) famous for the wrong reasons nationally and internationally.
