Payment of electricity bills

April 2 – Maundy Thursday – marked the deadline for payment of electricity bills for the period dated June 28, 2014 – Oct 12, 2014 (107 days). The citizens raised a huge outcry on that day because of the inconvenience caused by the electricity department.

The engineers had promised in front of the media cameras (Herald, HCN included) that things would be streamlined at the earliest. Now, on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, the citizens of Margao (Aquem area) have been issued fresh bills for the period dated Oct 13, 2014 – Jan 15, 2015, with the last repayment date being
April 30, 2015. Also, as the bills were kept pending by the electricity department for more than a year now, the citizens have to repay two bills within a month, and the amounts range anywhere from five to ten thousand rupees per household.
Now what does our government, which promised parrivartan and achey din, want the citizen’s to expect? Two salaries in one month? How will the common man afford this?
Will the repayment deadline be extended till the first week of May, 2015 so that one bill can be accommodated in the April salaries to ease the financial discomfort of the common man?
What is this logic, CM and Power Minister? And the opposition, Congress, is tight-lipped and scared to take up this issue, lest its own skeletons of corruption come tumbling down.
