Pipeline damaged at Assagao yet to be repaired

It appears that the PWD officials have still not realised the importance and need of preserving water. While many houses even now complain of no water or shortage of water the water supply flowing through a damaged pipeline near Kamat stop at Assagao is getting wasted for last 15 days.

This clearly shows the apathy of this government and proves the fact that the PWD is a public waste department that actually deserves an award for lack of work on one side and wastage of water on the other side.

The PWD which is supposed to clear drains by the side of the main roads, cut bushes by the side of main roads and MDRs is found lacking very much in these works not only in Assagao but even in surrounding villages. With regards to this water leakage it was brought to the notice of the local panch member and local lineman about a week back but till now nothing has happened.

The lineman is giving excuses that he has no labour and road cutting is prohibited in the monsoon.

With these excuses he is sitting pretty cool and allowing water to get wasted saying he is helpless. Such a disgusting attitude of PWD officials when it comes to plugging leakages is really disappointing and it appears that we still have not realised the importance of preserving and saving water.

While private water tankers are doing brisk business, the government, it appears is giving them readymade food by depriving water deliberately to the people and allowing water to get wasted.

Even in Siolim, by the roadside near the animal shelter house, a pipeline is broken and water leaking now almost a month with no solution to it and officials only saying work is in progress when people ask about water. What will it take for the PWD to wake up and plug leakages and ensure people get regular water?
