The second corporal work of mercy is “To give drink to the thirsty” which is in the Bible, but there are many parts of the world, even in our own country, where fresh drinking water is scarce or impossible to find.
Here in Cortalim (near Thana – Loutolim junction), the water is just flowing down the drain for the past 20 days and nobody is bothered to plug the hole.
Why the Panchayat or the PWD is reluctant to do their work is one’s guess. One also finds that similar pipeline breakdown near 1st Arvalle and nobody seems to care. They might have repaired once but again the pipeline has ruptured, causing lots of hardship to the people travelling on this road (Margao – Panjim). Additionally, the National Highway widening work is going on which adds to this problem. One has to drive very carefully.
Hope that the local Panchayat or PWD will repair both the plugs as soon as possible and will save every drop of water.
