PONDA: The partially broken and rusted staircase located in Ponda Fish and Vegetable Market building is posing risk to the customers visiting the market.
According to the locals, the staircase which is made of iron is rusted and very old. All 12 steps of the staircase are rusted, inviting risk to life.
The Ponda market, visited by thousands of people for buying fish and vegetables use the staircase but despite this it has remained neglected. The Ponda locals demanded that the Ponda Municipal Council take cognisance of it and either repair or replace it with new one.
Viraj Sapre said that the staircase steps are rusty and broken. There are chances that the customers may get injured while climbing the staircase. Similarly, there is equally danger to women wearing sari, may suffer injuries on this staircase. Therefore, the PMC should take immediate note of it and take necessary measures.
