Ponda sewerage chambers are not uniform compared to road level

In Ponda, chambers pertaining to sewerage pipeline were constructed sometime back. However, work in this regard is found to be unsatisfactory. As a matter of fact, the level of chambers is not uniform compared to the level of the road. Hence, vehicle drivers face great inconvenience and trouble while proceeding along such locations. They are likely to get involved in a possible mishap sooner or later thereby resulting in disastrous consequences.

At some of the chambers, potholes have developed due to the recent incessant rains. Public at large remain to be the ultimate sufferers in the process. During night time, the situation tends to be more serious. On many occasions, vehicle drivers proceed to the extreme side of the road in order to avoid the defective condition of existing chambers. Such a tendency turns more risky and the two-wheeler riders are likely to be knocked down in the process. This would lead to serious injuries and at times even death.

Seen in the picture is one such chamber lying in a dangerous condition near Almeida High School in the vicinity of old bus stand. Mishaps are likely to take place at this spot due to discrepancy in the level of road. The higher officials at the concerned department should take a note of this serious matter and arrange favourable action in repairing the chambers before the existing situation worsens further.

Potholes that have developed at the chambers should be filled up on priority basis. It is very much essential that the level at the chambers is uniform as compared to the level of the road. Let us hope that the authorities would take a note of above important matter and initiate prompt positive action in the interest of travellers. No doubt, public at large must be assured safety while proceeding along the concerned routes.
