PONDA: Pondaites are irked with the contractor for failing to execute the hot-mix tender work order issued in 2020 for market (Upper Bazaar) road.
They said the work order was issued in 2020 for Upper Bazaar road but the contractor is yet to execute the work till date on this busy one-km stretch.
The PWD Engineer when questioned by media persons as to why the work has not been executed despite the work order issued, he said the tender for hot-mix carpet from market to Varkhandem was issued in 2019, however, the contractor only executed a part of the work order and failed to execute the balance work (from market road to Varkhandem) till date.
“We have issued him notices seeking an explanation on not executing the balance work despite the tender awarded to him. However, the contractor has failed to reply to the notices,” the PWD Engineer said.
Meanwhile, the locals have questioned the delay in hot-mix carpet work at Upper Bazaar road.
Locals said, “Why should we suffer due to the contractor for not executing the work. The condition of the market road has deteriorated as the same is dug for sewerage chambers. With the work complete, the hotmix carpeting has been delayed for the past few years forcing us to drive vehicles on the potholes-ridden road.”
