Poor distribution of electricity bills in Moira

Electricity bill distribution has been another major issue plaguing the village of Moira for the past several years and none are concerned about raising the issue at the Gram Sabha held fortnightly at the Village Panchayat Moira.

Every time the bills that are issued by the Electricity Department Sub Division II Division XVII Mapusa, there are endless issues with regard to prompt delivery of the bill to the consumers and the consumers have to face the hardships of standing in serpentine queues getting the bill rectified and reduced. The meter reader either ignores the houses or says that the house is closed which is ridiculous. This shows their clear lethargy and illiterate attitude as they are not fit to do the job they are entrusted to do. I am concerned citizen of the village and have been promptly informing the residents in my vicinity about the delivery of bills and whether the residents have got the bills by the meter reader or no. The irony is half the residents have not got the bill only and some are not aware about whether the bill has come or not. This has been going on for the past 20 years right since I have been a resident of Moira and this cannot go on and on as the Electricity Department is harassing, cheating and over charging the consumer’s red handed and everyone is quiet about it except one. Some time back the bills were issued on a bi monthly basis and the bills were not given for 7 months or more when I only asked the Panchayat and none were concerned why the bill was not delivered for the past 7 months, the reply I received from the Panchayat was that they don’t deal with the issue of electricity bills which is a shame. Then I only went to the Electricity Department office Mapusa to find out about the same and they told me that there was an internal problem in issuing the bills and the bills would be delivered on a bi monthly basis. The concerned authorities should look into the seriousness of this issue so that we the villagers of Moira will not have to face hardships in the delivery of Electricity bills in the future.
