SANGUEM: The broken railings on either side of Portuguese era culvert at Uguem have made use of it a risky affair, particularly during night time.
The railings of the culvert on either side are partially damaged and in the absence of streetlights in the area, the situation is made all the more precarious for the road users.
The overgrown bushes alongside the culvert are also leading to the problems faced by the road users as the side walls cannot be detected easily.
The Uguem culvert is widely used by the commuters travelling to Sanguem from Kalay, Bhati, Villiena, Netravali and other places.
Uguem villagers claimed to have brought to the notice of PWD officials of the urgent need to repair the culvert railings but to no avail.
