Most of the letter boxes installed by the Postal Department in the State carry clearance timing over them. It is equally important that letters dropped by innocent customers are removed for delivery at the prescribed timing mentioned over the letter boxes.
However, it is rather unfortunate that the letters are not removed at the mentioned clearance timing. Such an undesirable practice delays important mail of customers dropping their letters at the respective letter boxes.

To cite a recent instance, a letter was noticed into a letter box along the internal road leading towards Shree Shankar Parvati Temple at Khadpabandh in Ponda, recently.
The prescribed timing mentioned on this particular letter box is 14:45 i.e. 2:45 pm. However, the next day, at 10:00 am, the said letter still existed in this letter box. That means the letter box was not cleared at the prescribed official timing of 2:45 pm, the previous day.
The concerned postman of the Postal Department failed to perform his duty at the appropriate time. Of course, the customer who dropped the said letter would ultimately face inconvenience as his letter would be delayed in the process due to lapses on the part of the concerned postman.
It is the need of the hour for the senior officials at the Postal Department in Ponda to instruct the postmen deputed at different locations to strictly abide to the clearance timing mentioned on letter boxes.
Those found overlooking the same must be taken to task without any discrimination. Under all circumstances, the customers need to be assured efficient and reliable service at all costs.
