This is in reference to the letter titled ‘Rebates on electricity bills for prompt payment an eyewash’ (Citizen Herald, November 25). First of all, the electricity bill published is an old bill of December 2014 issued before this department declared the 0.25% prompt payment rebate in 2016-17 and 1 per cent rebate for digital payment with effect from August 1, 2019. Secondly, kindly note that 1 per cent rebate towards digital payment is already being paid to consumers as per our notification w.e.f. August 1, 2019 and so also the prompt payment rebate.
