Power wastage should be checked

In the coastal villages of Goa, the streetlights and high mast light fixtures at beach entrances are often observed to be on till late in the day.

A few years back, most halogen and sodium vapour lamps were replaced by LED lamps in a bid to conserve energy and provide optimum levels of illumination.

Goa produces no power of it’s own and purchases the same at great cost from other states, it is almost criminal to waste electricity this way.

We should have sensor based lighting units which automatically switch on and off, depending on ambient light conditions.

With increased electricity demands many areas of Goa are turning power deficit or are facing shutdowns, checking power wastage is a concern which should be addressed forthwith.
