The location near Shree Maruti Temple at Varkhandem in Ponda happens to be a most sensitive location. Vehicular traffic remains continuous during major part of the day. With lack of necessary speed breakers, precious human lives have been confronted with great danger.
The pedestrians tend to be the worst sufferers as they find it difficult to cross the road due to over speeding vehicles proceeding from either side of the road. They are likely to be knocked down in the process. What seems rather amazing is that there is no pedestrian crossing at this area that can turn beneficial for the pedestrians while crossing the road. The female gender and the aged people face untold hardships on regular basis.
On previous occasions, some mishaps have taken place at this critical spot. However, the concerned authorities have not provided the much needed pedestrian crossing that can be of great use for public at large. Nevertheless, let us hope that the authorities would initiate prompt positive steps in this direction before any innocent pedestrian gets either seriously injured or lose his precious life sooner or later.
So also a traffic signboard depicting existence of a pedestrian crossing should be installed simultaneously. Necessary favourable action would be appreciated by one and all.
