The PWD should ideally be named as Public Messy Works Dept as there is always a mess in the works coming under this department.
No section of PWD seems to be functioning smoothly. The water pipelines in the villages of Anjuna and Siolim are constantly breaking, leakages are galore, and no linemen are seen attending to faults promptly. In Anjuna, there was water leakage near Starco for a long time, again near the Anjuna-Assagao border near Anand Hotel, there is water leakage which lies unattended. The main road in Assagao is being hot-mixed and there is encroachment by the roadside even on storm water drains. One wonders what new system is this that roads don’t have drains in Assagao and hot-mix touches compound walls. Secondly within just two days of hot-mixing the same PWD comes and digs up the road suddenly realising that there are water pipelines underneath that need to be excavated. It is just confusing to know how this PWD is functioning in such chaos with the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
