With fire at Sonsodo garbage dump ground, the Margao town has woken up from their deep sleep. The Garbage Sentinel Scheme introduced by Margoa Municipal Council is not a full proof solution to garbage menace. My sincere request to the municipal corporation is to implement total ban on sale of plastic bags.
Many Goans are very much concerned about their health and consume poie/bakri for dinner, but looks like no one cares about the environment.
The vendors sell bread packed nicely in plastic bags, some even insist for a plastic bag. By banning sale of plastic bags we can reduce the garbage generation by 20 per cent. Let us all take care of our health and environment together.
