While the panel discussion and people’s participation went on for close to two and a half hours, Herald had accepted close to twenty written questions from the audience. However, due to the time over run many of these questions could not be asked and answered in the manner in which the participants wanted to, though some of the broad points were covered. We reproduce a selection of 15 such questions, which indicates how serious the issue is, the extent and depth of people’s concerns and the fact that so many basic questions went unanswered. We expect MMC since it is the custodian of Citizen’s interest in Margao to reply to each of these citizen’s questions, via Herald by June 30. Their answers will be evaluated on the next Special meeting of the MMC which the people have demanded, be convened on July 1 to discuss waste management. If there are no replies, then the people will directly ask these questions during the next meeting
questions that Madgavkars wanted to ask
Herald thanks over 200 people of South Goa who attended the People’s Sabha organised by Herald and HCN on Margao’s garbage menace and the utter failure to manage the Sonsoddo dump which is a serious health hazard for locals.
