Since Citizen Herald has started giving us readers a chance to highlight things I thought why not write up to Herald besides my letters to editor mostly causing impacts to the Govt, officers, concerned offices or departments as work gets done sooner or later or quickly.
We want to inform the Tourism Minister, Tourism Department, that there is a beautiful park on top of the hill near Divar Church, which is one of the best parks after famous Dona Paula but now some years past the park is completely shattered and looks haunted because of negligence by the Tourism Department if I am not mistaken as I had heard it was taken by Tourism Department long back from whoever used to took care before. The beauty of this park was that every summer season almost every family used to go and sit in the evenings with their family members including the Mumbaikars; relatives and children, would play and enjoy the beautiful island. I recall some Hindi movie being shot at this place in my younger days.
From the park one can see the historical Old Goa churches, Panjim city with the Atal Setu bridge, neighbouring Chorao Island with greenery all around. Since there was a caretaker the park was well maintained but not anymore. So why not maintain it by outsourcing it? My humble request to the concerned authorities and also to Goltim-Navelim Village Panchayat Deputy Sarpanch Mario Pinto who walks the talk for any development work he takes in hand.
