It is deeply disheartening to witness the deplorable condition of the road in this area where thousands of commuters including the families residing in the vicinity. The recently constructed and tarred road, spanning from the DG Mart junction at Old Goa to the three phases of Casa Amora and surrounding localities of Old Goa, has turned out to be a complete sham and bogus. A waste of public money as the road started deteriorating within just one month of its completion.
What remains is a hazardous stretch riddled with loose pebbles, gravel, and large potholes, making it extremely dangerous to traverse by hundreds of families residing here. This poor road condition has led to numerous accidents, especially with two-wheelers skidding on the gravel. Moreover, vehicles are suffering significant damage as flying pebbles are cracking windscreens, further endangering commuters.
This road is a lifeline for the residential area which is needed to ensure safe and smooth travel and is a basic requirement that continues to be ignored. Despite the repeated appeals from residents, the various government authorities including the Village Panchayat and PWD have taken no action.
The citizens of the area are left questioning the proper utilization of our tax contributions to the Panchayat. Are we not entitled to the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana? Why are we excluded from the Har Ghar Jal Yojana, even as we continue to suffer without reliable government water supply? The lack of basic infrastructure such as a properly constructed all weather road with proper drains for overflow of rainwater, functioning streetlights, clean water, and a sanitary environment is unacceptable. The littered garbage further exacerbates the situation, posing serious health and safety risks to residents as there is no dustbin provided for the public to dispose of the garbage.
We earnestly urge the concerned authorities to address these pressing issues without delay. The residents of this area deserve basic amenities and a dignified quality of life. It is high time our grievances are acknowledged and resolved.
