This building in Mapusa behind the famous Maruti temple has always impressed me of its architecture design.
It is an old structure which has now started to crumble. This year’s monsoon rains has brought down the top roofing which will further collapse if the owners of the building do not attend to it.
This building is a heritage structure which needs urgent repairs and if the owners are not around, the Mapusa Municipal Council should step in to restore the heritage structure.
Mapusa has many such structures and it will be good if they list out such structures.
Many feel that so far the Mapusa Municipality is doing a good job. They first restored the old St Mary’s school building which now houses the Mapusa Municipality and work in progress of the old Asilo hospital is also looking very impressive.
I feel the municipality should encourage the owners of several such buildings to restore them under the archive and heritage schemes.
