It would have been desirable for all road-digging activities to come to a complete halt at the beginning of the month of May with the monsoons just round the corner. But that does not seem to be the case. A road at a busy junction in the Port Town of Vasco has been dug up last week ostensibly to carry out some underground work. While the dug up part running across the road has been asphalted, the asphalting of the road along the shoulders has not been carried out. As a result of this, much of the mud has spread on to the road (as seen in the photograph) making it dangerous for road-users to drive their vehicles, specially, on the sharp turn.
The pre-monsoon showers will lead to slippery road conditions at this spot. The authorities concerned need to re-asphalt the road on a war footing as one never knows when the pre-monsoon showers will come pouring down (or for that matter when the South West monsoon will set in) as the same has not been done till Friday noon.
