Emphasis is given on wearing a helmet. What about our roads and traffic signals – are they safe to drive? Our roads have no proper traffic signals and even if there are, they are not functioning. No doubt, the government is spending crores of rupees to build roads by extending and replacing them with three lanes. The sad story is these new roads will be available for repairs in the next three months or else another government department will break it open to undertake other work.
Road safety is not just about wearing a helmet. Sound road engineering is most important.
