Saligao police should stop burking, start working

Somewhere in April, I had gone to the Saligao police station to register an FIR as the mobile of my helping hand was stolen. The incident happened when my employee was working at my plantation when a group of Biharis in drunken stupor trespassed into my property late in the evening and vanished with an expensive cell phone of my worker.

There were quiet of few others who had come to complain about the stolen mobiles. The Station House office politely told all of us to give a missing complaint instead. Not wanting to argue with the officer, the poor complainants did as directed. The cop then brazenly told us all that there many cases like these reported almost everyday and went on to add that there were lot of drug addicts especially migrants in the area who were behind the thefts. If this is so, then why don’t the Saligao police not register FIRs and investigate theft cases rather then make people file missing complaints? Why aren’t the drug addicts and dealers in the area not arrested? Do the police want us to believe they aren’t aware of criminals in the area?  The Saligao police should stop burking and try suppress crimes quietly. Usually the efficiency of the police is questionable when complaints are forced to register missing complaints when thefts are reported. What is stopping the cops from putting the stolen mobiles under surveillance? The way the cops burk and shirk their responsibilities imply that they are either lazy in discharging their duties or they are party to the crime. It is high time the department initiates enquiries against cops who shy away from the duties and responsibilities by abetting criminals. If theft cases are rising in the area, then it is the duty of the police to control crime with an iron hand before the criminals graduate into bigger crime with alleged the blessings of the police who prefer to see no evil. Let better counsel prevail.
