Syears the people of Saloi bund, dumping ground for garbage!

Saloi bund was once known for its pristine beauty and clean surrounding in the ward of Salvador do Mundo, with its enchanting greenery and backwaters flow that was good for collecting shell fish (khubbe).
The locals come here for evening walks and seniors sat by the bund edge to relax and reflect of days gone by. The air was fresh and the environment enjoyable. But this is not the case anymore and the condition of the bund is deteriorating every year. It has become a garbage dumping site, as one can see garbage strewn everywhere. Besides, the bund road too is in bad condition and is full of pot holes. The road that joins the highway junction at Porvorim near holy Family Church causes inconvenience, especially for two-wheeler traffic which is heavy in the morning and late evening.
Parents carrying their children to schools and tuition classes face inconveniences and are left with no other alternative but to travel at their own risk. But all this does not matter to the authorities who do not seem to be bothered.
The bund road too is in need of immediate attention and repair.
However, nobody seems be bothered and no action has been taken for a long time.
Several villagers have complained in this regard, asking for garbage bins to be placed at strategic locations, maintenance of the Saloi bund and filling the potholes and repairing the roads.
We hope through this column we can request the concerned authority to wake up from their slumber and do something for the people of the area.
