Salvador do Mundo locals want Kadamba bus service as Diwali gift

The Kadamba Transport Corporation bought Comunidade land on Porvorim Plateau soon after Liberation, 60 years since. The depot, where the Kadamba buses are stationed, are sent on all routes in the service of public from here. Ironically, Salvador do Mundo villagers are left without service en route from the Church via Socorro, Bastora to Mapusa. These residents have to manage on their own or hook for a lift to go Friday Bazaar to Mapusa market. Some private tempo, bus operators did start service to serve the local needs but discontinued after a short stint for reasons best known to them.

“Our grievances aggravated since 2020 after the COVID-19 induced lockdowns,” said one villager, who has to go to Mapusa for sale earnings.

“Mhoji avoi ani dusrim somppon ghelin, ponn amkam bus iena azun,” added another young lady vendor.

Rightly so, even the local administration do not strive to urge the Kadamba officials to start public service for the benefits of the local residents, school children and sundry travellers to meet their needs in spite of the depot being not even two kms from the village. Will the Kadamba Transport Corporation give us a Diwali gift from this year by starting public transport services for which many are waiting in anticipation!
