Sanguem locals, councillors protest bad road condition

SANGUEM: Given the bad and unmotorable condition of the main road proceeding to Sanguem town from Dando junction and with no concrete steps coming from the authorities to repair the road, the locals from Sanguem led by councillors Messiah da Costa and Sangameshwar Naik staged a road blockade near Sanjivani Medical Store, recently.

The agitation saw some tense moments between the men in uniform and agitators after attempts by Sanguem Police to move Councillor Messiah to the side of the road.

The councillors along with the agitating locals reiterated with their demands for assurance from the PWD to put the road back in place which was dug for laying of the drinking water pipeline in April despite knowing fairly well that monsoons was round the corner and that they will not be in a position to repair the road before monsoons.

“Due to very bad condition of the road, the commuters are facing extreme difficulties in using the road from Dando to Sanguem Police Station. A couple of accidents involving two wheelers have already taken place due to slippery condition of the road and have shifted the patients to the hospitals,” claimed an agitator Dileshwar Sambhari.
