SANGUEM: Sanguem locals have raised concern over the condition of the main road from Dando to Sanguem Police Station after it was dug by the contractor to lay drinking water pipeline.
While it is not advisable and suggested major road digging work for any purpose when the monsoons are round the corner, this particular stretch of road was dug in early May thereby putting the citizens into great hardship.
Almost half of the main road is dug and the citizens find it really difficult to use the road for vehicular movement. The worst hit are the two-wheeler riders, who are unable to use the road as it has turned slippery and fear of meeting with accidents.
Some time back, the chairperson of Sanguem Municipal Council had visited the dug portion of the road and had urged the PWD officials to get the road repaired prior to the monsoon.
However, with the pre-monsoon showers continuing to lash Sanguem, it needs to be seen as to whether the contractor will be in a position to repair the road prior to monsoon failing which the citizens will have to bear with the present condition of the road till September.
