The migrants who were occupying the make-shift dwellings used to sell fish. The presence of the slum was a sore sight and cars used to stop by the roadside so that people could buy the fish thereby obstructing the smooth flow of traffic.
The authorities have now cleared the area of the slum and restored the place to its original state. Now the open area can be used to park vehicles.
