Mapusa City is an infamous Bazaar. The people from neighbouring villages such a Bastora, Ucassaim, Nachinola (Borvon), Carona, (Gaver) Olaulim, Pomburpa, Chorao, Ecoxim and Salvador-do-Mundo, come for different work and more to earn their daily bread by doing various trade. They follow their own bus route of Panjim-Pomburpa-Mapusa and back. On this route, the last bus schedule timing is at 7.30 pm to leave from KTC stand via Pomburpa to Salvador-do-Mundo. The young and elderly people hurriedly walk to catch the last bus but to their dismay on many occasions they get disappointed to know that the bus had left due to its packed capacity.
The concerned authority (RTO) should humanise what will be the plight at late hours of the stranded commuters when there are no other buses on the route to go to their destination. The blame cannot be pushed on the route bus operators when the bus gets full in capacity why will they wait till 7.30 pm inconveniencing the sitting passengers. This shows badly, there is a need of another bus on this route so the late comers can be accommodated.
I am highlighting the problem through the Citizen Herald column and request our Aldona MLA to solve the matter in the interest of people’s plight. Firstly, he should give priority to the present bus operators on this route to do the needful, and if not, the need of the hour should be to introduce a KTC mini bus or bus at 7.45 or 8 pm on Mapusa-Pomburpa-Salvador-do-Mundo route respectively.
