In view of numerous minor to serious two, three and four and more wheels vehicular accidents, drowning, drunken riding/driving, fightings and crime taking place beginning from Portais, Panjim junction up till the full stretch of road to St Cruz which sometimes goes unnoticed, not reported to Social Media or complained to Police Station situated at Old Goa.
Is it because it is 10 to 12 kilometres far away from village of St. Cruz? No accurate concrete wall protections are made for the safety of riders, drivers crossing this dangerous curved road coming from Panjim to St Cruz and back before crossing the huge water canal near historical four pillars. There can just be seen simple iron gates on both the sides which are not at all enough for the safety of people in the strong water current of the two lakes dangerously gushing down and above the road through and fro below the canal especially during heavy monsoon showers which appears dangerous and very scary to travel.
The other side it is completely open exposing huge water pipe line from where we get water supply from Opa water works to all St Cruz areas and vice versa. People are seen fishing, netting fish dangerously risking their lives from getting drowned seated on the huge pipes either for their livelihood, just for fun or pass time or being their hobby even though the place is and appears terribly scary as can be seen in the pictures attached, What do we do calling and attending meetings, giving speeches for issues relating to developments, reading newspapers, writing, viewing televisions of natural calamities if no necessary actions are immediately taken for the safety of the public lives.
To this effect Hon’ble Minister of Home Affairs, Corporation City of Panaji, (which is also concerned), Directorate of Panchayat Authorities, Public Water Works Departments and all sarpanchas of village panchayats are appealed for making necessary framing of rules and provisions to make 24 working hours of St. Cruz, Police Outpost to be easily available with concern to Merces, Chimbel, Curca and Bambolim as well who are waiting for decades which are the needs of the hour. The re-functioning of Ribandar Police Outpost may be restarted.
