PONDA: The locals of Varkhandem-Ponda expressed strong resentment over dangerous parking on both sides of the road at a sharp turn at Varkhandem, on the Ponda-Panjim Highway and demanded immediate action from the concerned authorities.

“Various vehicles including truck, buses, car, tempo etc., are often seen parked on both sides of the road. This reduces the visibility of oncoming vehicles in the opposite direction as the front view is blocked due to parking on the sharp turn. The vehicle drivers get confused and many times accidents occur,” said the locals.
According to the locals, there is a temple in the area and devotees often visit the holy place. This is a busy area with frequent movement of people and traffic.
The Varkhandem locals have demanded not to allow parking on both sides of the road as it will not only invite accidents but is also risking lives of the pedestrians.
