QUEPEM: The stray cattle menace on the road has become a regular feature now, especially in the monsoon. The cattle gathering on the middle of the road now has become a major issue, when we think about the safety of human life.
During the night time, it becomes very dangerous for the commuters, especially the two-wheeler riders, who have to face the brunt.
Mary Miranda, a local from Cacumoddi said that it is a headache now to drive any vehicle on this route, especially an two-wheeler, from Cacumoddi to Tilamol junction, Quepem, as half of the road is occupied by stray cattle, which lead to unsettle mindset to drive the vehicle safely and due to this many accidents have taken place during the night.
But the concerned authorities show that they are unaware of the situation. The cattle owners are also not interested in the animals’ safety. In many cases, the cattle have lost their lives in the accident. I request the concerned authorities to act quickly against the cattle menace.
