Stray dogs at different locations in the State cause untold hardships to travellers and pedestrians proceeding along the road. Many accidents have occurred due to dogs appearing on the road all of a sudden.
In Ponda, situation in this regard has become quite serious, with this menace being noticed at most of the areas. At the Municipal market in Upper Bazaar, stray dogs have been noticed not only at the parking area but also inside the fish market. Public at large visiting these premises face great danger. There is every possibility of dogs biting the public sooner or later.
Even at the KTC bus stand, dogs occupy the premises with great ease. Commuters waiting for buses at the platform face great inconvenience and trouble. Seen in the picture are stray dogs occupying the pavement near Almeida High School in the vicinity of old bus stand in Ponda. Pedestrians and school students face great nuisance at this spot.
Even in villages, similar situation has been noticed. At Adpai village, stray dogs occupy the road, more so during the night and motorists and pedestrians face untold hardships while proceeding along the road.
It is time for the concerned authorities to take a serious note of this sensitive matter and initiate prompt positive steps in restricting this ever-growing menace. Public at large must be assured safety on a permanent basis. Let us hope that immediate favourable steps would be initiated in this direction in public interest.
