The stray dog menace has come back to haunt the Goans. It’s imperative that aggressive dogs in each locality are identified and move to separate dog shelters. Stray dogs are a persistent threat to safety. It’s the civic agency’s failure to curb stray dog menace.
Butchers and meat stall owners would also be well advised to not lure the canines with offering of raw meat and poultry. Presence of garbage and wastes, possibly illegal with unregulated activities of dumping wastes in public areas increase in dog population goes unchecked.
And there is no efforts to trace the dogs for sterilisation and vaccination programme. There are more dogs at Bhatlem quarters and at certain places where it chases the riders. Dog menace, water woes, power cut, pathetic and pothole ridden roads are due to sluggishness of bureaucracy and administration.
