Due to faulty structural design a streetlight pole has been uprooted at Sernabatim Beach and now poses a danger to beach users.
I fail to understand why such carelessness is exhibited by the Electricity Department when erecting streetlights on the beaches. This is the second time that such an incident has taken place. Considering the intensity of wave action especially during the monsoons, a pile foundation should have been sunk into the sand to provide stability. I hope the authorities take note and this is not repeated in future.
