With reference to the media reports on how the motorists are suffering at night because of poor visibility due to non-functioning of the streetlights on the Agassaim to Bambolim Highway.
It is really surprising that almost three kilometres of the highway lack street illumination despite the issue being brought to the attention of the concerned competent authority.
I personally phoned the toll free number (1800 233 3949) for registering a complaint on the non-functioning LED streetlights. I reported that the streetlights between Agassaim and Bambolim, numbering more than 50, over a distance of around three kilometres are not functioning, posing danger to the motorists, because of the construction work going on and the numerous diversions that are not properly illuminated or highlighted. I even gave reference of the electric pole number.
Despite many days past, it appears that no corrective measures are been taken. In the interest of public safety, it is high time that the authorities take cognizance of this serious issue and solve the problem for safety of the public.
