All across the coastal belt, cattle are playing havoc with the lives of pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
If you are crossing the road or even going to your neighbourhood chemist, chances are that you shall encounter cows, bulls, calves or buffaloes either crossing the road or sitting without a care in the middle of the road.
Many vehicles in an attempt to avoid them, meet with serious accidents. There have been cases of pedestrians being gored by such stray cattle, the situation becomes more dangerous in the night.
Does not the village panchayat have any responsibility for this menace? Cattle owners who leave their cattle to roam and drop dung on the roads should be penalised and their cattle impounded. A beginning has to be made somewhere and stringent action has to be taken in the stray cattle menace.
