The train in the afternoon has been stopped by the railway for the last three months in view of the ongoing electrification of the railway lines project.
The students travelling from Collem to Margao are the worst sufferers as no alternative arrangements for bus services has been made. The village panchayat of Collem had brought up the matter with the railway authority at Hubballi.
Moreover the Goa Express train has only two coaches for unreserved ticket travellers, where people don’t have any place to stand. The railway police don’t check for ticketless travellers causing more agony to the passengers.
The railways want to stop the local train for good so that transportation of coal can be done.
Better sense prevail over the Government of Goa to write to the railway authority to start the afternoon Vasco-da-Gama to Kulem passenger train at the earliest in the interest of the student community.
