At Dona Paula, opposite NIO Colony, where the project of Tourism Department meant for bus stand for the tourists that is underway, there, a structure was set up for installation of an 11 KV transformer.
This structure was erected several years back but the 11 KV transformer, meant to distribute power supply to the area and surrounding, was not installed at all, for the reasons that this area was to be developed into a tourist bus stand.
However, what baffles me is why this structure was in the process of being dismantled at about 5.25 pm on September 4, on the verbal permission of a Junior Engineer to the linesman. What a waste of money to install and remove the said structure without following proper government approval and not utilising it for the purpose of installation of the 11 KV transformer for which it was meant.
This money has gone waste because of the dereliction of duty of the Electricity Department, which has led to the money of the public exchequer gone into the drain.
Also at this point, a new 5 to 6 metres road is under construction after uprooting of two big heritage trees presumably without the consent of the Forest Department. It seems that there is no coordination between the various concerned government departments.
