Fast on the track of development, Salvador do Mundo village is losing its pristine beauty and land. It’s summer, but children have nowhere to play. Clever as they are, a recently hot mixed village road has come handy for them to play their favorite games unmindful of the risk to their life and the passing-by vehicular traffic.
The local village panchayat is apparently is not interested to the needs of the villagers. Not that the elected representative are incapable, the tendency is once elected they get themselves engrossed in their personal interests. In the absence of a children’s park and a playground, children spend their holidays playing on the road or just loiter around doing nothing.
“We need good planners who are sincere and will work with dedication to enhance the beauty of this village with a human touch,” is how a senior villager summed up the lackadaisical functioning of the panchayat in an old dilapidated premise for the last 40 years or so.
