The traffic situation is getting worse on Goan roads!
. The scene is no different in Margao, especially on the highway from Arlem junction towards Davorlim junction. In fact, the traffic situation from Arlem Circle right up to Davorlim is in utter chaos, with vehicles coming dangerously in the opposite directions even on the one-way road. In most cases, its carelessness, but petrol pumps too are to be blamed as two-wheeler and sometimes even cars and trucks are seen moving in the opposite direction to fill petrol.
The petrol pump near Saini Motors was responsible for creating chaos for a long time, where road meridians were broken at two places and no one took action for years due to the close proximity to politicians.
In fact, worst is the road opening opposite Corporation Bank, where vehicles brazenly speed in the opposite direction despite seeing police officials barely metres away.
Similar scenes can be seen on the petrol pump near HDFC bank.
And RTO is not bothered about trucks, buses and cars parked on the road on the entire stretch.
These days Fatorda police officials are seen monitoring and fining those riding without helmets. This is a good sign, but they need to introduce system to their traffic policing, rather than swoop like hawks, sometimes right in the middle of the road, putting themselves and other motorists at risk.
Besides, if they move near the opening they will not only help traffic flow, but also reduce accidents
Traffic police can book multiple erring motorists and fill government coffers, as there are enumerable traffic violators just waiting to be caught. But I doubt if we want system in our lives!
