According to Prabodh Shirvoikar, DySP of traffic, South Goa, the Herald report published was given importance and he took the issue to concerned officials in the State police department and ordered the Vasco traffic cell in charge, PI Sudesh Narvekar to deploy sufficient traffic cops to regulate the flow of traffic. “I have asked him to deploy 4 members of the staff and if required, the number of staff can be increased, especially during peak hours. We are also making the effort to make other representations to the higher ups so as to prevent more accidents at these junctions,” said Shirvoikar.
Traffic police deployed at dangerous junctions
Taking cognizance of Herald’s report on Birla Cross junction and Titan junction being virtual death traps for motorists, the traffic cell of the Goa police has now deployed four traffic policemen each at both these junctions. These officials will remain present during peak hours handling traffic at these locations.
