Vanamahotsav Week’ is being observed from July 1 to 7. In the past, tree plantation drives were conducted throughout the state with a lot of enthusiasm. Schools, colleges, social clubs and companies used to organise tree plantation drives in a big way. But somewhere down the line this enthusiasm appears to have waned.
Trees are the lungs of any city. With so many trees being cut for road-widening, the need to grow more trees is felt more now than in the past. Like other cities the Port Town of Vasco also needs plants and trees to be planted in big numbers. The road-divider near the vegetable market along the Francisco Luis Gomes road which is devoid of plants (as seen in the photo) is one place where plants need to be grown in Vasco.
