Through the column of your esteemed daily newspaper, I regret to draw the State government’s attention that Mandrem village has been receiving turbid and muddy water and recently it was also sandy as I could feel the grains of sand in the potable water received in our taps in and around Madlamaj, Mandrem and perhaps in certain parts of Goa too.
I believe there is ingress of sand, dirt and also water from septic line. I have complained to the Assistant Engineer, Water Department, Pernem several times and occasionally it has been resolved wherein we have been receiving clear potable water from time to time but turbid water has been receiving in our homes sporadically. This incident will definitely affect our health and therefore it needs to be taken care of immediately, especially in the COVID-19 pandemic times. Is it too much to ask of the administration to take corrective measures, which will affect all and sundry?
The tolerance and patience displayed by the people of Mandrem to impress upon the administration and the government the importance and urgency of their health needs and to protect lives is very compelling and commendable. I hope and pray that the Water Department, Pernem will take up this matter in a war footing before it become an epidemic through dirty water sent through pipes.
