Although the Electricity Department in Ponda has been undertaking maintenance work in different locations, still some matters have remained unattended. A detached cover of focus lamp fixture over the electrical pole at the turn near municipal garden has remained neglected. The same needs to be re-fixed in its original position. So also, a hanging bulb over a streetlight fixture adjacent to Bank of Baroda at Varkhandem has remained neglected for over three months. The same needs to be re-fixed at the earliest.
Further, a rusted electrical box (consisting of a switch and a meter) over a electrical pole near Canara Bank also needs to be replaced with a new one. Recently creepers were noticed over some of the electrical poles along the Dhavali-Borim route. The same needs to be cleared. Even in the surrounding villages of Ponda, such cases are noticed.
Further, some streetlights at the village of Adpai are presently found non-functional at night. These fixtures need to be repaired at once in the interest of travellers and pedestrians. Public at large need to receive proper illumination on a permanent basis.
Besides, some transformers are noticed in an exposed condition on some occasions. The transformer adjacent to Coelho Apartments in the vicinity of old bus-stand is one such instance.
Providing proper locking system for transformers has become the urgent need of the hour. I hope the higher officials at the Electricity Department in Ponda would take a serious view of above defects and undertake necessary favourable action in public interest.
