There are people who do not even own a bicycle, forget about two-wheelers and walk to catch a bus to go to schools, colleges and offices.
And there are those that carelessly leave their bicycles in public places for days and months, creating nuisance and unpleasant sight.
But these new-model bicycles at Bhatlem, Panjim which cost at least Rs. 3,000 to 5,000, almost the same price as motorcycles and scooters many years ago, seem to be left unused for a long time.
These bicycles, along with some old two-wheelers are often left on the side of the road, against the wall. We are not sure what they are there for. Is it for repairs or abandoned by its owners, left there to rust.
Whatever may be the case these abandoned and unclaimed bicycles are creating a nuisance for pedestrians, as they have been there in heavy rains and hot sun for quite some time, occupying the side space and giving bad impression to public.
Respective owners of these bicycles are requested to remove and keep them in their residential compounds or make separate places around their residences.
The Corporation of City of Panjim is also requested to take possession of these bicycles and auction them to interested buyers, who may make good use of them and help in avoiding traffic blocks and clean the Bhatlem area, giving it a smart and decent look in jurisdiction of CCP.
