Valpoi footpath in need of immediate restoration

VALPOI: The footpath near the Valpoi Municipal commercial building has turned risky for pedestrians.
Recently some work was undertaken by a department there, however the footpath pavers were not restored properly which resulted in its dislodging during the recent rains, making walking tricky and at times even dangerous.
The area has been damaged to such an extent that people find it difficult to walk.
Now with monsoons barely days away it will only increase the chances of people tripping and falling if the pavers are not restored immediately, a local, Abhishek Gaonkar said.
The pavers have sunk specially because of the sub-standard work of the footpath and it will be very difficult to walk on the footpath if it is not repaired at the earliest, said a shopkeeper.
Many others, who use the footpath on a regular basis, felt that the civic body should act tough as this as the safety of pedestrians should be their responsibility.
Locals have urged the authorities to repair the footpath at the earliest not only in view of safety, but also in terms of aesthetic appearance of the walkway.
