As one enters the port town of Vasco one cannot fail to notice the numerous electricity wires running overhead and connected to the electric poles along the road-divider as seen in the photo.
Besides, being a sore-sight, these overhead live wires can also prove dangerous especially during the monsoon season. It may recalled, a two-wheeler rider was killed from electrocution when an electric pole was brought down by an uprooted tree. There is also danger of electrocution when huge floats pass through the Swatantra Path during the Carnival and Shigmo float parades.
Vascoites have to suffer perennially due to power outages. It is high time the work of underground cabling is undertaken in the port town as has been done in other towns and city.
