Citizen Adelmo Fernandes, Vasco It is understood that the work of building the new ish market in the port town will commence somewhere in September. Before the present ish market was set up next to the Kadamba bus stop several years ago, ish was being sold at the ish market located in the municipal market. But for several decades ever since the ish market was shifted, this old ish market located at a prime place in the municipal market has not been properly utilized. The structure has for long been used as a storage place by vendors in the municipal market to store their wares. Besides prime area being used for storage purpose, the place also provides an ugly sight. This prime area could be put to better use. The civic body could convert this structure into a shopping complex by having several stalls within it which could be rented out as has been done at the popular ‘Sunday Market’ in Vasco. This will bring revenue for the municipality. Alternatively, the place could be used for payparking for two-wheelers so that the two-wheeler owners who park their vehicles for long hours can park their vehicles in this structure, which could turn out to be a blessing during the monsoon season.
