I have made several representations to the postal authorities but all in vain. A year back, I wanted to urgently send some money to the Swamy Publishers in Tamil Nadu via post office as I was urgently in need of a book published by them. The then post master at the Cortalim post office had told me that the system at the office was down and directed me to the Agassaim post office. On my way to Agassaim, I thought it would be better to sending money through the bank! When I approached the bank below the Agassaim Church, I was informed that there is no need to pay for bank-to-bank money transfer and as such I managed to save Rs 50.
Later, I asked the Cortalim postal authorities as to why they were spending money on draft while sending the collection money to the Margao office? Why couldn’t the Cortalim postal authorities send the money through Bank of Baroda to the State Bank in Margao, and that to free of cost? He told me that it is the divisional office or the Superintendent of Mapusa (Goa Division) which has to act.
Why do the postal authorities in Goa waste public money? Two days ago, a customer told me that he was forced to visit the post office the fourth time just to get his work done. I hope better sense will prevail on the postal authorities.
