Water woes at Adpai

Residents at the Adpai village in Ponda face great inconvenience due to non-availability of sufficient quantity of the much precious water for their day to day use.

Tap water is unavailable during the day and is restored only during late evening and at night. As a result, household activities such as cooking, washing utensils, bathing, etc., get delayed to a great extent. Since water tends to be very much essential for consumption and also for other purposes, it is absolutely necessary that the same is made available to the residents for almost 24 hours.
The PWD minister Mr Ramchandra Sudin Dhavalikar has been mentioning that regular water supply would be assured to all locations by 2017. But what about the hardships that people face at present? Situation in this regard aggravates during Sundays, as most of the family members remain at home it being a non-working day.
It is rather unfortunate that elected representatives at the local Village Panchayat viz the VP of Durbhat overlooks this major problem on regular basis. At least during extreme emergency it was necessary for them to provide water to residents through water tankers. But such a timely positive step is not being undertaken and people continue to suffer on most occasions.
It is time for the acting Sarpanch not to remain a silent spectator to this major problem but to take up the matter with the higher officials at the Public Works Department- (Water Division) in Ponda so that residents staying at this jurisdiction are provided tap water on regular basis without any discrimination. Sufferings faced by the locals for years together need to come to a permanent end. I hope prompt and favourable action will follow in this regard before the existing undesirable situation worsens further.
